What's New in HSK 3.0?
The new HSK 3.0 expands from 6 to 9 levels, providing a more detailed assessment of Chinese proficiency. The new structure includes three proficiency bands: Foundation (Levels 1-3), Intermediate (Levels 4-6), and Advanced (Levels 7-9). The advanced levels 7-9 are entirely new, designed for learners pursuing academic or professional excellence in Chinese.

Can communicate in simple and direct exchanges on familiar topics.
Can handle basic communication in daily life, study, and work.
Can discuss familiar topics fluently and handle situations likely to arise while traveling.

Can understand complex texts and express ideas fluently in academic/professional settings.

New HSK 3.0 Format
Starting July 1, 2026, HSK uses a new 9-level structure. Levels 7-9 replace the old HSK 6 and add three advanced tiers.
Computer-Based Testing
All HSK exams are now computer-based. Practice using the official HSK online simulator before your test date.
Speaking & Writing Components
HSK 1-6 include speaking (beginner levels) and writing (intermediate+) components. Plan your preparation accordingly.
